I want to know the factory tint on my new 2024 Mach-E’s windows, but I didn’t want to spend $80 on a meter I’d use once or twice in the next 10 years, so I took the following pictures of computer paper both inside and outside, front and back:

It calculated that the dark section was 4.5% as bright as the light section on the rear glass, but since this is double-bounce attenuation (the paper on the inside is light by sunlight attenuated by the glass, then it’s attenuated in the other direction too), that works out to 21% VLT for the rear windows, which agrees with internet numbers.
With the front window, it worked out to 75% VLT. So 28% VLT film on the front would match the back, but 30 would be slightly lighter.
